The project at Enviros House, Shrewsbury Business Park was funded by a private investment company who own the site.
With a very strict environmental policy to maintain, the private investment company also wanted to enhance the green credentials of tenants Guestline Ltd. The scheme benefits both parties – with the private investment company capitalising on attractive returns for being paid for all excess self-generated power fed back into the National grid.
GENERATING POWER FROM FIRST LIGHT UNTIL DUSK
With a private PPA set up between the landlord and Guestline for the usage of the electricity generated by the system, the company now benefit from an enhanced electricity rate per kwhr.
With the project taking place during normal business hours and high activity at the site, including a nearly full car park!
Solar PV Battery Systems were able to execute the project in a safe timely manner, within a very challenging environment. A well organised Health and Safety Plan was key to the success of this project, especially when dealing with daytime HGV deliveries and safe operation of loading machinery used to elevate the systems components on to the scaffolding/roof space.
The end result was a system that does not detract from the aesthetic look of the impressive office complex, and generates power from first light until dusk. This is due to our client requesting a design for a system that would give a long even spread of generation across four elevations.
In the early morning energy is produced from the Eastern elevation, before the main South and smaller South elevation come into play mid-morning. Towards the end of the day the Northern elevation produces more than enough power to justify its existence within the scheme.
The system is expected to produce in excess of 78,810 Kwhrs of electricity per annum and was fitted with a private GSM generation meter and monitoring system enabling our client to access full site visibility of the generation and consumption.
