We offer a full range of Solar PV off grid packages using renowned brands such as SMA, Victron combined with Rolls batteries considered by many experts as the ultimate in off grid battery technology – Combined with a diesel generator an off grid Solar PV System can often be the most cost-effective way of deploying electricity at your chosen destination.

By installing an East to West 15 Kw Array at the site, the system will actively charge the batteries from dawn until dusk.

We recently undertook an installation for a veterinary surgeon who was quoted a prohibitive figure from the electricity network provider to supply power to his farm, the huge savings made by choosing to go with an off grid Solar PV Battery System became a simple decision and way forward for our client.

To begin with we needed to understand our client’s consumption requirements and periods of peak usage as well as maximum loads, once we had this key information, we were able to design and build a bespoke generation plant mirroring the electricity output that the client requested. Backed up with a diesel generator for low generation winter months or to act as ‘boost’ as and when required to charge the batteries, the 15 Kw multi-orientation system provides enough power to operate our clients site as it would have done with a grid connection.

The plant room at this project consisted of 2 SMA 4.0 Inverters and a Sunny Island charge controller paired up to Rolls gel batteries. Our client was able to remotely monitor his Off-grid systems performance and battery state of charge using the App.

Clients considering an off-grid system should be aware that this system above was only covering light power usage, which were low power veterinary examination equipment, PC’s and occasional kettle and 2 kw wall heater usage.

The batteries held a charge of 15 kwhr’s which was perfect for our clients needs, but it should be noted with the UK climate in winter off-grid systems will rely on generator assistance or larger arrays of solar modules to compensate short winter daylight hours.

Off-grid systems can be an invaluable addition to remote locations, holiday park accommodation with plenty of roof space, or as above rural locations with again land or space to accommodate larger arrays than domestic properties, but often we receive enquiries from clients in suburban settings requesting to go Off-Grid – We hope this section of the website explains the qualifying criteria and it should also be mentioned these systems are much more expensive than their grid tied counterparts.

Having said this, in an awful lot of cases they are a much cheaper and viable alternative than a remote grid connection!
