120KW EAST/WEST SPLIT SYSTEM

One of the UK’s leading agricultural lime producers have recently invested a Solar PV renewable energy system at their stunning new warehouse facility just off the M6 motorway near Sandbach in Cheshire.

Bolshaw Industrial Powders a family company that has been in existence since 1965 and have a farming heritage that spans back over four generations, appointed Shropshire based Solar PV Battery Systems to undertake this stunning project.

Owner Jon Bolshaw who instigated the project commented ‘Our company is fully aware of its environmental responsibilities and we always strive to lead by example, this together with rising and volatile energy prices – the likes of which none of us have ever encountered before made the decision to generate our own electricity a formality. There is also of course a tremendous ‘feel good factor’ associated with such a scheme and generating your own power’.

FROM DAWN UNTIL DUSK

The systems 348 solar modules are situated on both elevations of the building, resulting in a full generation window of power from dawn until dusk and greater usage opportunity of the generated power.

All skylights were avoided during the construction of the array to preserve natural light flowing into the building. The system is powered by three SMA Solar Tri-power 25,000 TL inverters and has also been installed with a monitoring device, allowing Mr Bolshaw access to the systems performance in real time and gives ‘full site visibility’ of generation, on-site consumption and exported power figures.

The system was constructed in just 5 days, during the coldest week of the year – which meant our roofing team could not access the roof until after 11 am each day as they had to wait for the trapezoidal roof to thaw out before works could commence.
